Tribute autoformer

Tribute autoformer

Autoformer volume control / passive preamp, built using Tribute nano-crystalline amorphous-core toroid autoformers.

Slagle autoformer

Slagle autoformer

Passive preamp using high-nickel autoformers from Dave Slagle, and a remote-controlled Shallco attenuator switch from Bent Audio. Built for my friend Tim Dean. Wiring is all solid silver in teflon, jacks are Cardas. Wood is curly claro walnut and zebrawood. Knob and surround are solid 6061-T6 aluminum, fully polished. All hardware is non-magnetic.

TX 102 Passive Preamp

TX 102 Passive Preamp

A passive preamp based on the S&B; TX-102 transformer volume controls. These are the silver TX-102s, which I got from John Chapman at Bent Audio. The casework is by Josh Stippich of Electronluv, carved from solid billet aluminum. I wired it with solid silver in loose teflon sleeving, using WBT silver solder. The selector switch is a Seiden 45-series (45007), 23-position dual deck. Jacks are Cardas rhodium plated (SRCA). The knob rides in a ball-bearing race and turns effortlessly. It has a single input and dual outputs wired in parallel. Many thanks to John and Josh - 2 of the greatest guys in audio!

37-45 Tribute amp

Originially built by HifiTom (Tom Scoville) based on a TriodeDick design. Later extensively modified by me with assistance from the Dowdylama. Uses Tribute amorphous c-core iron almost exclusively. (Gallery also includes photos of work by HifiTom for his other clients)
